Heroes and Villians

Once upon a time, an average looking boy grew up in an typical household in the suburbs of an mid-sized city. He had a normal childhood, filled with moderately priced toys and the medium sized box of 24 crayola crayons.

One mostly sunny day, while outside playing the common childhood game of hide and seek, he made to cross the street so as to take his usual hiding place. No cars were swerving through the road and he was in no danger.

And so he hid. He hid from his friends. He hid from the world. He hid from himself.

Suddenly he was hit with gamma radiation somehow. Let’s say it fell from a tree. The boy was genetically transformed. He now had super-powers. And not just any super-powers; Great super-powers. This mild-mannered boy had not only been lucky to survive such a large dose of gamma tree rays, but also blessed to be given the opportunity to make something of himself and use his powers for the good of all people.

Unless…

What if he chose to use his powers for evil? If he allowed the selfishness of man to consume him, just as it had consumed so many other americans trying to make it rich without putting forth any actual effort, there would be no end to his tyranny. No stopping the creature unleashed onto an unsuspecting world. His insatiable lust for greed, and greed for lust, and lust for…evil, would be unrivaled by any man attempting to rival his unrivalry.

But, if no man could stop him, then who could? A child, that’s who. One child had shrouded the world in darkness. His shadow chilled the land, like death’s touch, strangling happiness and cultivating fear. And now, a ray of hope. A golden light. Another boy overcoming odds and fighting his way to uncover the secrets that keep evil safe.

He searches for the answer. Any answer to drive such a powerful force back through the gates in which it came. There is one way, and he knows the path is dangerous, but there is no alternative. Time runs short and the darkness grows. His opportunity is now. Hesitation breeds failure. Stretching forward he can feel the end is near. Blood pumps rhythmically through his veins. His fingertips pulsate with every beat of his heart.
